Flamenco Guitars

Our flamenco guitars become more and more popular. They are made with the same care and love of detail as our classical guitars, but they sound very "flamenco". The most beautiful encouragement to our conception is the Long-neck-Flamenco, which Tomatito bought in spring '97.

Flamenco guitars have a neck of very lightweight Honduras Cedar and a top of spruce. Sides and back are made of cypress, wich is the classical wood for flamenco guitars, but we also use the locally grown cherry or maple. The sound quality of these woods seems almost identical to cypress. And of course we have "Guitarras Negras" made of Rosewood.

The bracing follows the usual spanish principles and is designed to produce a brilliant, percussive Sound with deep and powerfull basses. It tolerates a relative humidity of air between 40% and over 90%.

Besides these different woods there are also several types available:

  • Standard, with a normal sized body and a scalelength of 65cm (25.6"), 64cm (25.1") or 63.4cm (24.9").

  • Small, with a slightly slimmer body and a scalelength of 65cm, 64cm or 63.4cm.

  • Long neck with the 15. fret on the edge of the body and a scalelength of 65cm or 64cm.

With the Long-neck-model the solo player has the advantage of playing up to the 20. fret without twisting the hand. The accompanist can use a capo on the 7. or even the 9. fret. , by Erik Krause about 4000.-EUR or more. Negras are a bit more expensive.
