Long neck guitars

Long neck guitar

The idea to shorten the body and so to have a longer neck to enhance the playability in the higher registers originates from Renè Barslag, who also owns the copyrights. He makes incredible flamenco and classical guitars. Everyone who is interested in his guitars or his ideas may ask him directly:

Visiting his workshop in 1994 made me very fond of the idea and I asked him for permission to make similar instruments. It took me half a year to develop an own concept, that met both my ideas of shape and of sound. The positive confirmation, last but not least of Tomatito, encouraged me to go on with these.

The long neck guitar does not only look better than a cutaway guitar, its playability is far better. The thumb can rest in its normal position in the back of the neck even if playing the highest frets.

The sound qualities of the long neck instruments are almost identical to my other guitars. The biggest advantage is the better playabiltiy in the high ranges, but especially for flamenco there is the possibility to use a capo even in the 9. fret. A disadvantage may be that it is complicated to find your way on the longer neck, until you get used to it.

The Prices are in the same range as the corresponding classical or flamenco guitars.
